dell laptop no sound from speakers or headphones

I looked around and nothing appeared to be burned out.ĭoes anyone have any suggestions on how to go about fixing this problem? There were no broken wires anywhere, and the headphone/mic jacks were soldered to the motherboard. The headphone jack used to work just fine otherwise, but has over time stopped transmitting sound more and more to the headphones.Ībout two years ago, I tore apart the whole enchilada. This, and only this, usually gets the sound to work from the external speakers.

I usually use my wallet to prop against the plug - it's thick enough to hold it in place, but not too thick to break the plug or jack.

To be more descriptive, I take a 1/8' headphone jack plug and stick it in about halfway, then angle it downward and hold it there. This loss became more and more frequent, and as of now I cannot play the sound from the onboard speakers unless I place something into my headphone or microphone jacks. About three years ago I began to intermittently lose sound from the intergrated speakers on my Dell Inspiron 6000. Locate the Dell laptop's audio driver under the 'Sound, video, and game controller' section and double click on it Right-click on the audio driver and click on 'Uninstall Driver.' Once the driver has been uninstalled, click on the new driver that you had downloaded from Dell's website. I enabled waves maxxaudio on startup (task manager) which may help (but the problem still persisted). A new blurred device named stereo device or mono device will appear. Now click on Recording tab at the side of Playback and right click in the empty space and click on show disabled devices. I first installed the latest realtek driver which did not help. Now right click on the primary audio device or pc which is (Speaker/Headphone) in Windows 10. I have a problem that's been pestering me for quite a while. I use a dell laptop and had the same issue ( Have to restart laptop for earphones to work and if I unplug the earphones and plug back in, no sound plays through the earphones).
